Spring Break Travels !
Itinerary: Paris, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Dublin.
My wonderful parents came to visit me in Paris for a few days during the beginning of my school break. It was cool to show them some of the sites, Versailles, some favorite restaurants, my apartment as well as discover some new ones! We stumbled upon this cute cupcake shop over by Notre Dame and the flowers were just beautiful!
I was also glad I got to show them Versailles. My favorite part was getting to see the Trianon and Petit Trianon which was built for Madame de Pompadour and used by Marie Antoinette.
From there we headed to Amsterdam! I liked exploring the city and the vibe was so beyond different from Paris! I really could see how Parisians have a certain way about them. In Amsterdam, no one stared nor cared what you did lol. People say French people are rude, but French people just have a different approach to making friendships. I think speaking French probably helps too;) Anyways, we visited the Heineken Experience, took a canal boat tour (LOVED that!) and visited a windmill village and Zaanse Schans, the Netherlands' famous clog making town! I enjoyed seeing the city and the more traditional countrysides:)
I met up with Leah in Edinburgh, Scotland next! It's their capital, but it's actually quite the small, adorable town. Apparently the 4th beautiful city of the world! We covered the city in a half day lol but it was really cute and relaxing:) We ate pub food, saw the castle, queen's palace, saw a guy with his bagpipe and visited the extinct volcano (Arthur's Seat) from afar:) But wow everything costs; we didn't go in to the palace and castle because we would have spent over 30 euros ! Paris does it right by not charging student fees for museums and reduced rates for everything else !
After Scotland, we headed to Dublin, Ireland! Once again, this city seemed so much smaller compared to Paris. Dublin wasn't necessarily a pretty city but it had its charm! I really loved the colored doors and when it rained, it brought out the orange in the brick buildings:) And of course, I LOVED the accent ! I'm sure I annoyed Leah using it the entire time, even to order food, etc. haha It must be the Irish in me!
It did suddenly start hailing on Wednesday but we had a good laugh and lots of "hail no" jokes:) We also did a Jameson whiskey tasting. We had the luck of the Irish on our side on Thursday for hiking; it was beautiful outside:)) We went to Howth, a fishing town with gorgeous views and cliffs. We climbed to the top and probably did about 10 miles or more.
I really enjoyed my break but happy to be back home in Paris:) I really missed speaking French all the time...how am I going to make it when I'm back in the US?!
PS- Less than a month left? WOW. Where did the time go?!?! Though I know I will terribly miss my French life, I am glad to see family, friends and American food:)
Bisous,
Lyndi
