Petits Plaisirs.

When you wake up, there's that split second until you realize your surroundings.

This morning when my picture came into focus, I remembered I'm living in Paris for the next 4 months.

I opened my eyes, saw the adorable room that I now call home and heard the click clacking of heels on the cobblestone outside. We had tea and baguette for breakfast at our leisure and while looking at our to-do list, her son was visiting and played the piano. It was very peaceful to relax in our room and just listen to each key being pressed on the piano in the salon creating something beautiful that filled the room. Here's a snippet of it...

After a relaxed morning, we ended up buying our metro/bus passes today which was surprisingly pricey! However, we've already used it quite a bit, so it'll pay itself off. I had planned on running some other errands to buy my phone SIM card and some groceries, but as a Sunday in France, the majority of stores were closed. So saving that for tomorrow, after orientation in the morning.

Last night we had a welcome dinner with the older woman who's hosting us and the medical student. The Madame seems very friendly and kind; she seems to have a warmth to her. When we asked about rules she said we can use the kitchen when we want and there isn't a curfew; though she would be worried if we don't come back till 4 in the morning. Must be the mom in her! ;) We've chatted with her some, but we also have the freedom of just being a guest; meaning we're adults with our own lives and commitments so we can come and go as we please. As this is the case, the the medical student seems nice but a bit private or reserved. Not sure how much we'll hang out especially with her busy schedule.

We didn't meet the granddaughter until this evening but she seems to be rather friendly too. So I feel I'm in a warm apartment in a great location:)

Tonight Leah and I took the metro to grab a crêpe and ordered our new favorite type of drink while being in France, kir. All I know is it has white wine or cider and some flavored syrup! It's an apéritif meaning a drink before a meal. It's delicious!

As I write this before bed it's TRULY hard to believe I'm starting week 3 in France! Where has the time gone??

Excited for this chapter of my life!,
Lyndi <3
