Tulips of Holland...Michigan!

With a case of always missing Europe, I decided to take a weekend trip to Holland! Well...Holland, Michigan ;) This weekend was the last week of their Tulip Time festival so I made the "short" 5-hour drive.

Can you see Holland??

I arrived at my AirBnB, where I stayed with the sweetest elderly couple. To make it even more authentic, the guy is from the Netherlands! My door even had a cute plaque with logeerkamer (guest room) written in Dutch. :)

Things to Do:
Downtown Holland + Festival
Part of the fun is to simply walk around seeing those dressed in traditional Dutch attire. I didn't care to stay and watch the parade, because I was too excited to see the tulips hehe.
I recommend walking around the downtown and Centennial Park. There are fun, decorated, wooden shoes sprawled out across the park.

*Sigh* if only in my size;)

Check out Cuckoo clocks at Holland Clock Company $$$
This could be a museum at how much detail and history goes into each clock! It truly is a beautiful collection to check out. **It's free to look around but they do cost a pretty penny to buy!

Dutch Village $
In order to get to the windmill gardens/tulip fields, you have to pay $10 entry fee to the Dutch Village. I did like the village; it was pretty cute. They also had several activities to see and traditional food to try. However, there was a long line so I decided to grab the most "traditional" food afterwards of...tacos ;)

Tulips galore!! <3

Windmill Island Gardens
My favorite part of my trip was looking out across the sea of brightly colored tulips. How can you not feel such pure warmth when there's so much natural beauty in front of your eyes. It was a cloudy day but the bright colors, fresh flower smell, and moving windmill made it so worth the drive.
I also learned some fun facts like did you know tulips came from Asia? The word is derived from the Turkish word "tulipan" meaning turban -- too cool!

A short and sweet trip filled with color, reflection, and calm. :)

bisous,
Lyndi
