Lower Antelope Canyon (Page, AZ, Planet Mars)
If you want to travel to Mars without leaving this planet, this is the spot for you. It's pure magic.
Known to the Navajo as Hasdestwazi, or "spiral rock arches," this narrow, slot canyon weaves and wanders letting in just enough light to bring the orange sandstone walls to life!
After a bit of research, we discovered we had two choices for the Antelope Canyon: Upper or Lower. Both are beautiful places and each have their advantages and disadvantages.
The Upper Antelope Canyon:
This canyon looked incredible. This is where you'll see photos taken of the famous sunbeams (but are only visible during prime hours). However, it's quite touristy, packed, a bit pricier and shorter. Another note: the exit is the entrance; so once you go in, you have to turn around to get back out. Don't let that deter you though; I'm sure the photos alone are worth it! Plus this is the more popular tourist choice of the two.
The Lower Antelope Canyon:
This canyon does NOT have light beams. However, it's longer, less touristy, and she's just as beautiful, honey! Note: This canyon isn't accessible to all; there are many stairs to get in and out so be prepared!
We took a leap, and decided to explore the Lower Antelope Canyon though we would be missing out on the sunbeams. Just wow😍 Ok, not just wow, but it's hard to form words...you'll see what I mean when you see the photos below!
There are many great tour groups, but we went with Dixie Ellis' Antelope Canyon Tours, and loved them!
Note: Both canyons are on Navajo land so you must go with a tour! I recommend booking in advance.

This was definitely a highlight on our summer road trip...oh but wait, there's more to come next week. (Say whaaaat?)
Have you visited this canyon or did you go to the Upper part? Tell me about it below! :) Feel free to ask any questions if you're planning a trip too!
