Moving to a Foreign Country (again)

The other day met up with 2 other teaching assistants also in Thonon
After spending an amazing week in Paris absorbing those warm feelings of nostalgia and making new memories, I started my next chapter in Thonon last week.

I feel right at home and reassured on my move to France. This city is wonderful. It's a great size and feels perfect for me. It's definitely not huge, but not so small that there's nothing to do. I've been exploring and getting to know the city; many strolls by the docks, hikes up cute, steep, side streets and navigating the city without my phone's map.

As with any move, I've had start up tasks too. I've met the school/staff/some students, set up my French bank account, found/signed for an apartment, and LOTS of paperwork (which the French love...) as well as meeting the other assistants and my neighbor !

I've also found everyone here to be super helpful and friendly.

At first it was a bit scary realizing it's just me over here. Yes, I have the support and love of friends and family but physically; it's just me. It's actually become thrilling to see just how capable I am ! It's given me that new found confidence and independence that I really can do what I set my mind out to do. Pardon the cheese.

Maybe that's another reason why I love France so much. It was the first place I was able to discover that complete independence and self-reliance that I feel now.

I'm happy to have settled in and looking forward to my first official week as an English Teaching Assistant ! I'm also eager to travel, but need to budget everything out...I really am sounding like an adult--yikes! ;)

That being said, I couldn't be happier to be back in France and know it's where I'm meant to be right now:)

bisous,
Lyndi
