Post-Paris

It's already been a week back in the states! No lie, it's been a little rough transitioning back to US ways but family and friends have made it enjoyable:)

It's weird how it almost feels like it didn't happen. I can't explain it, but just being home and being an "American" again...I don't know; it's strange.

I miss speaking French everyday and the accessibility of Paris (that metro and walking!!), but visiting Indianapolis and Cincinnati were super fun!

I rode bikes by the canal in Indy, and felt like I was in a modern European city! It was pretty cool:) And got ice cream and walked by the Ohio River last night in Cinci! I didn't realize how cool that area is during the summer! I wish I lived downtown, so I could just walk there instead of having to drive, pay $5-10 for parking when I just want to visit the river, but it's worth it to feel like I'm back in Paris;) Also saw Cinci installed a rent-a-bike system and the street car downtown - got to check those out! :)

As far as the job search...I've been frustrated. Dayton doesn't have much (if any) of a French scene so using my French isn't too much of an option. I've applied for MANY internships (in Dayton and Cinci) while abroad but have had difficulty finding any... I didn't want to go back to my summer restaurant job, because it feels like I'm moving backwards. I need to remember that I've already changed so much since I first went abroad, and this summer job is temporary.

It also doesn't mean I can't use my French in other ways! My mom suggested contacting the library about allowing me to start a French program for younger kids to learn French:) I'm going to look into that this week ! :) Also going to see about attending French events in Dayton and Cincinnati !

Like I mentioned before, I've been looking into teaching English abroad in France, but I'm also considering Morocco! I think it would be cool to discover another country as well as lifestyle. Something to think about..

PS I'm really lucky to have such wonderful, positive people in my life who support me:) Thank you all!

Bisous,
Lyndi

**UPDATE: I found an internship! I will be translating articles for an American/Parisian magazine online! Super excited for this awesome opportunity!
