Get lost.
We woke up knowing only that Grasse was on the agenda for the day. Grasse is known as the perfume capital of the world!
It was day 4 of class and I'm enjoying my professor and classmates :) They are all very friendly and we are able to joke around in class as well as learn useful grammar and vocab.
After lunch we took the train to Grasse.
It was so thrilling to hop on the train and not know exactly where we were headed. We arrived and spoke with some locals to find the museum. When we got there, the smell was incredible. It was better than any Bath & Body Works store ;)
We looked around the museum Fragonard then got a tour of the factory. We learned how their perfume was made and also that some flowers can't be heated to release the scent, but instead the smell comes out by placing in it fat and having to replace it many times. Then the fat is placed with alcohol and it separates. The fat becomes soap and the rest becomes perfume. It's quite the complicated process.
I bought a small bottle called belle chérie ("my" beautiful dear/term of endearment).
It was such a great time and such a cute little town! Definitely the best day since being abroad.
We headed back to Cannes by train just in time for dinner at our college. Not sure where my next adventure will be tomorrow.
Also, I don't know how I will act in Paris without being able to travel everyday, but I guess I'll manage;) hehe
Bisous,
Lyndi
